These are my "new" boots. They are deadstock and that means they are from the 70s or 80s ( I don't think they are older than that) but they were never worn.
I love them because they are designed like old-fashioned paratrooper boots and will go well with the rest of my slightly 40-ish type clothes.
I almost exclusively buy and wear pre-owned clothes. Thrifted clothes are cheaper than vintage clothes so I often make do with clothes that look slightly vintage but aren't.
But, I'm only human and recently gave into temptation and bought a pair of slacks from H&M.
The whole look made me think of Katherine Hepburn so I'm not judging myself too harshly.
Also.. I only ordered twice from them this year and the other time it was socks...it is possible to buy second-hand socks (I own a pair of old army socks) but it's nicer to buy new ones
At the same time, I was re-experiencing The Diviners series by Libba Bray. I do this every Halloween because they are perfect if you like scary stories and vintage movies and jazz.
And this resulted in blending Leslie with Uncle Will.

Leslie Howard
12 Dec 2018 08:23

Last month was "Noirvember" and since I'm not terribly fond of gangster stories it's kind of looking for a right match when searching for a noir movie. I'd been meaning to watch a movie with Leslie Howard since someone recommended him to me so and so my choice fell to The Petrified Forest. Technically not noir but a noir-precursor, according to TSPDT. Also featuring (starrring) Humphrey Bogart and starring Bette Davis.

I didn't watch much more noir after that...four. I was so taken with Mr Howard that I immediately watched Pygmalion that same night and then twelve more of his movies the following days.
I regret nothing.
Welcome back
4 Dec 2018 08:01Am I really going to post proper grammar with proper caps and shit? Maybe.
Anyway. I have this paid subscription to Photoshop and I haven't used it for anything other than cropping pictures in a while. It would be fun to try my hand at icon making again.
I definitely need a Leslie icon.
